Where the Savannah Meets the Sky

Stretching over 3,230 km², Mikumi National Park lies between the Uluguru and Lumango mountain ranges in southern Tanzania. Often called a “mini Serengeti,” Mikumi’s open plains, baobab-studded hills, and seasonal rivers create a classic African safari setting with easy accessibility from Dar es Salaam.

The park is home to large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, often seen grazing across the Mkata Floodplain a sight that captures the timeless beauty of Tanzania’s wild heart.

The Heart of the South

Mikumi offers a genuine safari experience wild, scenic, and less crowded. The park’s open landscapes resemble the Serengeti, making it a perfect choice for travelers seeking great wildlife viewing in a tranquil setting. Watch elephants crossing dusty plains, giraffes silhouetted against the sunset, and antelopes grazing near watchful predators.

The Mkata Floodplain is the park’s centerpiece a vast grassland where lions, hyenas, and wild dogs roam freely. The Hippo Pools provide close-up views of hippos and crocodiles, while the skies are filled with eagles, hornbills, and colorful bee-eaters.
